reason #462 why I bake pumpkin spice cookies
#462 - The experience just settles me down and gives me comforting creativity when I feel overwhelmed with life in general.
#463 - I enjoy the domestic process.
#464 - The smell is incredible.
#465 - They taste rediculiously yummy.
#466 - It's a very easy recipe. A box of spice cake mix, a can of pumpkin, a handful raisens, bake 350 for approx 15 mins. cool, frost with can cream cheese frosting. life is good.
#467 - They're low fat until I put frosting on them. (I always put the frosting on)
#468 - it takes the dampness of out house without turning the heat on in June.
#469 - Although there is no chocolate involved, it helps when I'm feeling the nasty effects of pms. (I could of course, if necessary be wild and crazy and just add chocolate chips)
#470 - The process often helps regain my sense of humor

what a way to start the day
I took this photo this morning around 5:30am on Willard Beach in South Portland Maine, while staying with some friends. I got some great photos of the sunrise and waves for reference photos for future paintings and photo prints to frame. It was a very relaxing, fun way to start my Sunday morning. I couldn't believe that I had the beach to myself, despite the early hour of the day. One of the delights of being a morning person I guess. I have shyed away from painting the human body, but have always wanted to, so this might be a great way to give it a try, jump in feet first.

sailing into the unknown
This is how I feel about the direction I'm heading with my life and I love it. I painted this a few years ago and it gave me such a confidence boost with my painting abilities (self taught), that I decided it was not something I would try to sell. Since then, I have painted many nautical themed pieces of Art that I have sold and it's a lovely reminder of what I am capable of when I feel overwhelmed with my dream to move to full time artist/writer/photographer.

putting it out there
i've been wanting and trying to put it out there since I was a young woman. mostly with my art work that is. i've had some satisfying results on a small scale in recent years, but never had the courage to take it to the next level. and only with my art work, not my writing. although i did get one of my poems choosen and published in a highschool anthology. the desire to put myself out there has been a growing ache in the last couple of years. it has gone from a daydream, then to a satisfying hobby, then to a very, very small part time art business and now a desire to make my living with it. it's where my heart wants to be. i've journaled on and off since i was twelve years old. it has gotten me through some very hard times in my life. as with my art, i've wanted to share my writing with the world, but it until now, it was beyond scary to put it out there. but the time has come to face that fear, as i am with my art.

Just added these hand painted wine glasses to my Esty shop this afternoon and already got 9 views! That is huge for me. That is the most positive response to anything I've put in my shop. While I've accumulated lots of views on other items, none quite to quick as this. They were very satifying and fun to paint hope they make their way to someone's home in the near future. http://www.bethscraftroom.etsy.com/
